3rd Annual Cherry Point Forum October 24

The Cherry Point Aquatic Reserve Citizen Stewardship Committee will host its third annual public forum on Saturday, October 24. This fun, informative event is free. This year's event will feature presentations by experts on geology, seaweed, marine bird ecology, and sea star wasting syndrome.

Location: Bellingham Technical College, Room 102A/ 103B: Saturday, October 24th from 9:30AM to 2:30PM.

Agenda: 9:30 am - Registration

10:00 am - Geologic structure, processes and sediment transport at Cherry Point.

Eric Grossman Research Geologist, U.S. Geological Surve Pacific Coastal and Marine Science Center Tribal Liaison, USGS Natural Hazards Mission Area, Currently located at USGS Western Fisheries Research Center

10:45 am - Seaweed: Eelgrass, kelp and their interlinkages with physical and biologic processes at Cherry Point

Thomas Mumford, Marine Agronomics, LLC, University of Washington Friday Harbor Labs, formerly with the Washington State Department of Natural Resources.

11:30 am - Lunch and social opportunity. (There will be an opportinty to purchase pizza at the event)

12:30 pm - Marine birds, combining marine ecology, citizen science, and conservation and resource management in Pacific Northwest waters
