The Birch Bay Watershed and Aquatic Resources Management (BBWARM) District is seeking citizens to serve on its Citizen Advisory Committee. Advisory Committee members represent the local community and BBWARM rate payers’ interests in the stormwater program for Birch Bay.  Birch Bay residents interested in stormwater, water quality, and aquatic habitat in the Birch Bay watershed are encouraged to apply.  The committee has two vacancies for four-year terms starting in February 2015.

Applicants must reside in the BBWARM District subzone and be registered voters.  Responsibilities include participating in monthly public meetings held the third Wednesday of the month from 6 to 8 pm and other meetings as needed and making recommendations regarding the implementation of the BBWARM stormwater program.  The committee also meets as the Birch Bay Shellfish Protection District.  For more information call Ingrid Enschede, Program Specialist at Whatcom County Public Works, at 360.715-7450 x50787.

Appointments to the BBWARM Advisory Committee are made by the Whatcom County Council acting as the Flood Control Zone District Board of Supervisors.  Application instructions and forms are available at www.whatcomcounty.us/boards/boards.jsp or at the County Council office at the Whatcom County Courthouse, 311 Grand Avenue, Bellingham.  Applications must be received by 10 AM January 6 to be included in the council meeting packet for review before appointments are made on January 13.
